The Big Book

If you are curious, skeptical, or just plain old in trouble, this read is simple and easy. Some of the information is eye- opening, but it is pertinent despite the books age. The original text is a mere 164 pages, but it packs an entire new way of thinking and living into the package. The remaining stories of individual AA members are poignant. You may find some affinity among them, and a doorway to a new life!

I really appreciate this app & the folks I get to use it with. I thank the God of my understanding who gave me this disease. He is all powerful & chose this disease for me - wow, thank you HP!It could have been terminal cancer, but in your wisdom, you gave me terminal alcoholism AND a prescription for living (medicine): help others. Simple, effective and not easy. God loves me too much to make is easy & I’m grateful for that & this app, which contains the message of hope, so I have it with me at all times.Bob K

Encouragement at your fingertips

There are lots of type-o's. And the stories included are only from the 1st and 2nd editions. Add in the 3rd and 4th edition stories and correct type errors and you'll get 5 stars from me.It would also be nice if when you "share" a page that it would send that page and not the whole book. Or if you could copy/paste the text (which you can't do for some reason).

I’m sober 5years 7months 25days! Thank you AA. I don’t just read the big book, I study it. I read and ask myself questions about how I relate to each sentence, just like I was taught, when I was in treatment. So many times, the words in this book, have got the wheels in my head turning in the right direction, that I was able to keep myself from doing something stupid. And thus, staying out of situations, that would lead to relapse. USE THIS APP. Live Aloha

Read This One Night

Simply put, my body was tired and beaten. There was no joy in drinking when the next day brought jitters and physical pain. After a long overnight in the ER, I downloaded this app the next afternoon and read it nightly to maintain sobriety. Even if you aren't sure about giving up alcohol, please take ONE night away from the liquor and download this so you can instead read about s sober future. Read it sooner than later. You will be grateful you did and so will others in your life.

What A Blessing!

It’s so handy to have the big book on my phone for FREE!!!!!! I can at anytime look up a section or chapter of the 164 pages of text. The appendix is here and the stories from the 1st and 2nd addition as well. I appreciate have the other stories that I don’t find in my big book. It gives me something to identify with and that means HOPE of recovery. This has also allowed me to be of service. Be it a call from a fellow alcoholic at work or a newcomer at a meeting. It gives me more to share thank my own thoughts and understanding of the program. I also love the prayer section. It was so helpful when I was new to the program. I still use it almost everyday. I learned how to pray using this very app. Thank you again for the help in my recovery. You are amazing!Meghan W

FREE and helpful.

The big book is so crucial to recovery. I can only taink the creators of this app for making it available for free. Of course, there are things that I would like better, like the ability to bookmark pages. But I have found that not been able to bookmark pages means that I pay closer attention to what I’m reading. So I’m trying to find the positive in everything.

Mostly helpful

I am grateful for this app. I like the quick reference to 12 traditions and 12 steps. The aa birthday is also great since I can count days and hours. I do have two issues. 1. This is not the latest edition so I cannot use it when reading personal stories out of the book. Also the page search just doesn’t work period. It always delivers an error regardless if the page is available or not because it’s an older edition. Fix these and it may be near perfect. :) Still recommend that you download if you want to stay sober. It’s the best of the rest. None seem to be 4th edition.

Do The Next Right Thing

I was frustrated because many Recovery Apps have a cost or in-app purchases. While this app doesn’t have as many “bells & whistles”- it does have exactly what I needed: a copy of the big book, personal stories, and prayers.For anyone looking for an accessible way to read recovery on their device- I highly recommend this app.

Easy to use and I can take it everywhere I go

I love this app, and I love that it is free! It has helped me in my spirituality. I am a beginner in AA, I have most of the books already, but I enjoy this app because I can just have my phone or tablet and read from the Big Book when inspired to do so. This app makes it easy to say my daily prayers and to work the steps. I highly recommend this app to anyone looking for the Big Book or any AA material. I have just begun listening to the podcasts from this app as well. There are so many great things included it's amazing!
